DIFFERENCES & IMPROVEMENTS OVER D503.msu/MS-138.msu:
-used footage from alternate cameras to replace stills
-used stills from alternate cameras for more variety on some missing parts
-filled distracting special effects with alternate cams
PERFORMANCE/HIGHLIGHTS/SPECIAL MOMENTS:
-appearance of Dave Stewart on “Highway 61 Revisited”
-Dylan’s extensive use of the acoustic guitar
-Dylan’s thumb + forefinger acoustic and electric guitar technique (see “It Ain’t Me.
Babe for a good example)
-long drawn out endings to some songs, e.g., “The Times They Are A-Changin”
-highly emotional singing, especially on “Every Grain Of Sand” and “It Ain’t Me,
Babe”
-tart & tasty harp especially on “I And I” and “It Ain’t Me, Babe”
-Bucky Baxter’s electric mandolin on “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right”
-blistering leads by J.J. Jackson, especially on “Ballad Of A Thin Man”
-smoky performance of “I And I” highlighted by Winston Watson’s drumming
-quite enthusiastic audience
-rather distracting special effects added by filmer (see Disc 2 setlist details)
-Dylan leaves out verse 1 of “Mr. Tambourine Man” and sings verse 2 twice
DISTANCE/POSITION: 8-15 (5˙ left of center balcony; effective zooming and panning; focus on Dylan during singing with shots of others during instrumentals)
AUDIO: 15 (excellent LTA/LB-1463 recording)
STEADINESS: 12 (filmer kept it quite steady except occasionally between songs and when audience members moved)
HEADS/OBSTRUCTIONS: 13 (mostly unobstructed except far left side on long shots blocking J.J. Jackson)
FOCUS: 12 (very good color and adequate light; focus soft and grainy on close-ups)
EDITING: stills and clips from alternate camera angles used for missing and problemmatic parts of MS-138; MS-138 tape had a pause at the start of “Every Grain Of Sand plus vertical control issue/left untouched because no other footage available; vertical control issue before next-to-last song replaced with D1073 footage; brief cuts added before and during some songs to maintain a/v sync; upgrade audio slight gap before break filled with extracted video soundtrack; MS-138 filmer incorporated some distracting special effects at the end of Disc 2 that were replaced with alternate cam footage (see setlist details)

LB NOTES FOR LB-1463:
Legendary Tapers Series #6
9 February 1993: London
Off-master copy of a recording by LTB (see also #2 in the series) from the
Hammersmith residency in 1993; (corrected later not to be recorded by LTB, but by LTA)
excellent sound; different recording than bootleg Just Like Zimmerman LB-2779 based on different crowd at end of d2t1; in comparison that one has hiss, hum, and is harsher; pop d1t8 4:11 caused by discontinuity
Notes for LB-5895 attribute the recording to LTA with the following lineage:

COOPS2009 NOTES FOR MS-138:
Courtesy of The Two Daves
Yet another very watchable film. They were on form this tour.
EC30 tapes transferred to PC via a Panasonic NV-W1 Professional triple standard vhs machine. Files authored to DVD with Tempgenc DVD Works Author 4
Third night of his third and final residency (so far) at Hammersmith. Bob clearly wants to play though and seems reluctant to finish many of the songs.
Remember even if you have some of the Daves’ films already that at best your copies will be 2 generations poorer than anything in the Masters series, so get em all. These will be with original sound though many will feature as sound upgrades eventually with my two mates Yassou and Madhasse helping out.
COOPS2009 NOTES FOR D1073:
I am reliably informed that this particular film does not appear to be listed at DVDylan.comI am not the originator of this but this is an off master copy. However I have no knowledge of what camera was used. The video has been menued with TEMPGENC DVD Author 4 but is otherwise untouched, Its also not a bad film for the period an is almost the whole show.
COOPS2009 NOTES FOR MS-026:
Here is a rather short but very interesting film
The camera is actually sitting ON the stage" the taper was not able to zzom in much as he could nout use the viewfinder much but its pretty unusual. As far as I am aware never been done before or since.
COOPS2009 NOTES FOR MS-077:
Third year for Bob at Hammersmith the band has changed an the songs have become
longer. But out mans there again for the third night of the residency. A nice performance and another lesson on filming. Persevere. Going each night the taper had chosen seats in different locations, so if he got caught one night he'd be elsewhere another. Remember the security staff at the Apollo got paid a bonus for each taper caught. So they were keen. Ok so this he finds himself working alone and sitting only 5 seats from an exit so he has at least one security guy ten feet away all night! But he takes his opportunities and whilst we don't get a lot we do get some nice things watch Highway 61... excellent....
Never give up.
