The Many Faces of Bob - and 1980 is one of my favorite faces.

I love FAN projects _ Mel's Syracuse of 1980 _DVD_ a very enjoyable fan's eye look at Bob in Syracuse just 2 weeks after the famous Massey Hall shows _all Bob _ALL Gospel _all the time _ makes you think you were AT this show, lovely harmonica solo taken from audio tape recording of the show. This period in Bob's Touring was as revolutionary as going electric at Newport.

The DVD opens with soundtrack from last year's Masked And Anonymous - "Man has the mind of God but the body of dust ... are you humble before God?"
Songs are in bits and pieces - a bit of a great version of _In The Garden_ one of Bob's great songs _ not great Gospel songs, great songs period.
"Ain't Gonna Go To Hell For Anybody - a solitary someone or two in the audience claps 6 or 7 times at the beginning of the song. If you want an audio recording of the entire show, you'll have to find an audio bootleg - if you want to see what the show looked like _on a Spring evening in 1980_ get this DVD. For fan value and enjoyment and Bob history _ this DVD is 5 stars.

Looking forward to the 60 Minutes Interview this Sunday, wondering how much Bob has really changed.
