HW continues to turn out some of the most professional, functional, and consistantly excellent sound upgraded DVDs in the Dylan world.
As noted, the Paris footage is a grade or two higher than the D490 version of this tape. colors are quite lifelike with excellent focus. obstructions are an issue at times on this hand held floor shot tape. shakes are consistant. However, this footage provides some wonderful chest to head views of BD working it out. Audio is simply wonderful, seemlessly syncronized with the video.
Then on to London. This is great stuff if you like close ups of BD at work, maybe disappointing if you want to see the rest of the stage. This footage is very close, chest to head shot fills the screen, smooth zooms back to include his guitar work. minimal shakes for hand held closeup work. colors are not as strong as the paris footage. I really like the close up films, and this partial set is a nice treat.
There have been lots of comments about Paris and London 1990 in terms of performance. I think this DVD captures some consistantly high energy and high quality deliveries on the part of everyone on stage. Not the most dynamic group Dylan every toured with: so be it.
Bob gives particularly great facial expression and vocal delivery throughout the London footage. Looks and sounds like the Man is really enjoying his work this night.
I love the 'extras' that HW often includes, here the Dixie Chicks cover Mississippi to round out the viewing experience.
A very nice compilation DVD from Europe 1990, well worth checking out, and if you like close shot stuff it might serve as a decent single DVD to represent this tour in a collection. Thanks to all involved in bringing this out!
