Sound upgraded w/very good (a bit harsh) (B+/A-) audio, probably an improved LB-3928. LB-3928(?)>Toast Titanium 8 disk images>Sound Studio 3.5.6>wave>iMovie 6.0.3.
Audio and video assets edited in iMovie 6.0.3; authored, multiplexed and burned to VIDEO_TS folder in iDVD 7.1.2 (Professional Quality 2-pass variable bit rate encoding).
Note on audio sources:
The LB-3928 (?) source substitutes songs 1-3 with performances from other concerts, so those cuts couldn't be used. Hence, the inferior, but passable, video soundtrack was used for these songs and the introduction. Graphic equalization was applied in iMovie 6.03.
The available assets for this particular item presented challenges. The excellent mint H18 video source becomes hopelessly obstructed in the middle of "Things Have Changed" and, except for a very brief part of "Like A Rolling Stone," is either obstructed or completely missing for the remainder of the show. This necessitated the use of the 2nd or 3rd gen D381 for the obstructed/missing parts.
Another problem is that the upgrade audio source is missing the first three songs, thus necessitating the use of the inferior video soundtrack for those songs.
So, why get this one? Well, because when it's good, it's very, very good and stands up well against the best of the 1999/2000 DVDs in the catalog. My favorites are "Positively 4th Street" and "Just Like A Woman," classic songs which Dylan delivers here in an energetic and convincing manner.
4+ seems fair.
