Like D1019, D1021, D1022 and D1023, D1024 was filmed by Tom P., a name that guarantees skillful stealth camera work. This one suffers a bit in terms of shakiness, but not enough to give it less than a 5-minus or 4-plus in the steadiness category. There's an occasional tracking problem manifested as a split-second band about a quarter of the way down from the top of the screen. It's unclear if this was a camera problem, but the problem can be seen in the avi file that was transferred from the camera, so it clearly wasn't caused during the editing process. This does nothing to interfere with enjoyment of the video, and the focus and color remains as good as any H18-sourced DVD in the catalog.
As far as the sound is concerned, one word suffices: 'soomlos.'
Dylan's performance is terrific, with a setlist heavy on compositions from the 60s and 70s. "If Dogs Run Free" is delightful, "Country Pie" is scorching, and "Desolation Row" is as fine a performance as I've heard (see it here: http://youtu.be/f_xIBd-5RwU). The only songs drawn from the late 90s/early '00s are "Tryin' To Get To Heaven" and "Things Have Changed," which probably disappointed some fans, especially those who saw the 1999 concert at the same venue where Dylan performed three songs from "Time Out Of Mind."
All in all, this one deserves 5-stars, even if it's a bit below some of Tom P's 1999 efforts.
