DIFFERENCES & IMPROVEMENTS OVER D505.msu:
-filled missing footage in D505.msu with movie clips from alternate camera MS-079
-smoothed out the special effects used by the filmer of MS-140
PERFORMANCE/HIGHLIGHTS/SPECIAL MOMENTS:
-Dylan’s extensive, and impressive, use of the acoustic guitar
-Dylan’s part strumming/part picking guitar technique, e.g., on “She Belongs To Me”
and “Just Like A Woman”
-long (overly?) drawn out endings on most songs, e.g., “Mr. Tambourine Man”
-impassioned vocals on “What Good Am I,” “I Don’t Believe You” & “Just Like A Woman”
-an achingly tender and beautifully-sung performance of “It Ain’t Me, Babe” with
great tremolo mandolin work by Baxter
-stellar backup by Watson and Baxter on “What Good Am I?”
-Garnier’s steady stand-up bass work (didn’t use electric bass much)
-“I And I” highlighted by Watson’s intense drumming and Dylan’s wailing vocal
-moving vocals on “Jim Jones,” “She Belongs To Me” and “It Ain’t Me, Babe”
-incisive harp, especially on “Tangled Up In Blue” and “Simple Twist Of Fate”
-Bucky Baxter’s lap steel on “All Along The Watchtower,” pedal steel on “Just Like A
Woman,” acoustic guitar on “I Don’t Believe You” & mandolin on “It Ain’t Me, Babe”
-the usual blistering leads by J.J. Jackson, e.g., on “Cat’s In The Well”
-nice interplay between J.J. & Dylan on “Highway 61 Revisited” and “Everything Is
Broken”
-rather distracting special effects added by filmer (see setlist details)
DISTANCE/POSITION: 8-15 (MS-079 is center balcony; MS-140 is 20˙ left center balcony); MS-140 filmer shot through a small window (perhaps a hoodie?), but was able to capture the entire band and zoom to closeups; focus on Dylan during singing with panning to others during instrumentals)
AUDIO: 15 (excellent LTA/LB-5923 recording w/minimal audience chatter)
STEADINESS: MS-140: 12 (sometimes jittery, but impressive control for a hand-held cam); MS-079: 10 (often jittery)
HEADS/OBSTRUCTIONS: MS-140: 15; MS-079: 13
FOCUS: MS-140: 12 (excellent color and adequate light; mostly good focus, but grainy on extreme close-ups): MS-079: 13
EDITING: stills and movie clips used for missing songs and parts; vertical control issue and distracting special effects smoothed out with Video FX effect; brief cuts added before and during some songs to maintain a/v sync; (see setlist details)

COOPS2009 NOTES ON MS-140:
Fifth night of his third and final residency (so far) at Hammersmith. Bob clearly wants to play though and seems reluctant to finish many of the songs.
Remember even if you have some of the Daves films already that at best your copies will be 2 generations poorer than anything in the Masters series, so get em all. These will be with original sound though many will feature as sound upgrades eventually with my two mates Yassou and Madhasse helping out
COOPS2009 NOTES ON MS-079:
Lets try and get a few more in shall we? Sorry been a while. Life keeps getting in the way! Anyway Here's the fifth and penultimate night of the residency. A nice performance, the group seem well relaxed and are in good form. The songs of course continue to get longer and longer!
