This disc is a tough call between 4 and 5 stars. It's not the best disc I've ever seen, but it's very consistent and of very high quality.
Vygi's distance rating may be a bit high. You do get nice wide shots of the entire band throughout, which is a big plus for me, but a full-body shot is about as close as the camera gets to Bob.
The audio quality rating is about right. A sound upgrade might make this a bit better, but the sound is just fine as it is.
The steadiness and heads I'd rate five stars. For an audience film, this is remarkably steady and unobstructed. The taper zooms in and out some, but it adds to, rather than detracts from the film.
Focus/lights/colors are good, although this isn't a particularly low-gen transfer. It's still plenty good.
This show was the first show I heard after Charlie joined the band and it has always been a favorite to me. Highlights are a rollicking "Hallelujah, I'm Ready to Go" (with, for once, Bob's intro caught on camera in full glory), and a very happy Bob with an otherwise totally standard, but incredibly well-played setlist. Songs like "Just Like a Woman" and "Watchtower" are very well-delivered.
I love 1999 and I love this video!
