Despite Bob's lukewarm performance, this disc set is overall excellent. Good to see the man getting his props. There are many great performances: Lou Reed, George Harrison, Johnny Cash, Stevie Wonder, Neil Young, Ron Wood and others tear the house down. A lot of great song choices, including Foot of Pride and Seven Days.
Bob's vocals were rerecorded on at least one of his offerings, the ensemble My Back Pages. I'd much rather have his original vocals in place, even though he sounded crazy and f'd up on the original. They even changed the camera work from the original live broadcast to hide the dubbed vocals.
The version of "It's Alright Ma" is good. Bob was fairly nasal in his delivery in these days, and I think it's his single weakest era. Despite that, his performance is Bobstrange and I give it all 2 thumbs up! Backing band of Booker T and the MG's cannot be beat. Enjoy it!
(Techical quality is Mint, btw. Also includes the controversial Sinead segment, which I find courageous and excellent. Very surprising, the reaction from a "Dylan" audience. I suspect it was the Mellencamp fans doing the booing... ;-)
