Between the raw early NET sound and the Larry and Charlie peak, Dylan and his Band were finding and exploring a high energy yet dynamic approach, at once 'true' to the recorded versions as well as fresh and vital. #D656.su offers a fine sample of the work in progress, 1994 style.

Video is less than perfect. Focus comes in and out. Most of the film is shot from about knees up from pretty well back in the floor capturing Bob with WW and TG in most shots. No close-ups. There is some digital 'noise' throughout, although I found that the video quality improved as the DVD went on (and the evening light faded). There are many slight blips and clips, which are minimally distracting. Colors are nice and rich. Sometimes the video is a little jerky and pixelated.

Audio is first rate. The audio/video synch is excellent for the most part, especially considering the less than pristine Video source. Upon close examination, it is clear how much work went into filling and closing video gaps in order to maintain synch with the excellent (flawless?!) audio. I also want to mention the cool use of the 'Jokerman' promo video to fill the gap at the beginning of Jokerman on the DVD. Great idea, very nicely executed!

Without the excellent Audio and audio/video synch work, it would be hard to watch this film, and I wouldn't have known how wonderful this show was. As it stands now, I found it engaging and very worthwhile.

The switch seems to get flipped on for Baby Tonight: Dylan is lit up and shares great harp AND guitar solos. Things sustain the high level through Mama on Mind, Masters, and the best Love Minus Zero on fan-made DVD I can think of.
The rest of the show is great, especially as the video quality improves...I'll watch this one again, and its especially welcomed since there is not so much 1994 video circulating.

Thanks to audio/video tapers, and kudos and thanks to the Author for bringing this Video out in such an enjoyable form!
