DVDylan ID: D079.msu
Recording type: Audience
City/Venue: Edinburgh, Scotland/Edinburgh Playhouse
Date: Friday, 7th April 1995

NOTE: While not as good as D679.msu (Edinburgh, Scotland (06-Apr-95)), this is better than D079.su and an improvement on D079.m, both of which are 4-star items. So, rather than quible with a 4+, I'll give 5-Stars.

3-5+/5/3/4-/4+
11-15/14/8/10/12 (avg. 11:00 B)
Left balcony 30 deg.
1:39:05:23
PAL

DIFFERENCES & IMPROVEMENTS OVER PREVIOUS EDITIONS
-original PAL format (D679/D679.su were transcoded to NTSC)
-divided into two discs for higher bitrate
-used alternate audio for “Crash On The Levee” due to static on LB-3560
-better selection of stills for missing, cut and clipped songs
-does not use unnecessary special effects
-different top and track menus

PERFORMANCE/HIGHLIGHTS/SPECIAL MOMENTS:
-like the other Spring 1995 European shows, Dylan and the band were
stellar
-Dylan often sings w/o guitar center stage
-audience quite, sometimes overly, enthusiastic
-Dylan sings the “laughing’ spinning’ verse (#3) of “Mr. Tambourine Man”
-Jackson’s acoustic guitar & Baxter’s dobro on “Mr. Tambourine Man” quite effective
-a powerful “Hard Rain”
-a tender “Love Minus Zero/No Limit”
-a fan kisses Bob after “Ballad Of A Thin Man”

DISTANCE/POSITION: 11-15 (right balcony 40˙) (mostly on Dylan, waist to chest up; Jackson seen when near Dylan; Watson seen behind Dylan; Baxter and Garnier seen when camera pans right)

AUDIO: 15 (outstanding LB-3560 for all but first song which uses excellent LB-2613; audience chatty during softer songs)

STEADINESS: 8 (obstructions made control difficult)

HEADS/OBSTRUCTIONS: 11 (often unobstructed by bodies in front)

FOCUS: 11 (color and light excellent/focus occasionally goes out after obstructions)

EDITING: two missing songs and numerous missing parts filled w/stills (see setlist details)

Concert #663 of The Never-Ending Tour
Bob Dylan (vocal, acoustic & electric guitar, harp)
Bucky Baxter (pedal steel guitar, electric slide guitar, dobro, mandolin)
John Jackson (acoustic & electric guitar)
Tony Garnier (electric & standup bass)
Winston Watson (drums & percussion)

All work done on MacBook Pro running El Capitan OS 10.11.1
Audio and video assets edited in iMovie 6.0.3; authored, multiplexed and burned to VIDEO_TS folder in iDVD 7.1.2 (Professional Quality 2-pass variable bit rate encoding)

COOPS2009 NOTES FOR MS-155:
Remember even if you have some of the Daves films already that at best your copies will be 2 generations poorer than anything in the Masters series, so get em all.
These will be with original sound though many will feature as sound upgrades eventually with my two mates Yassou and Madhasse helping out

LB NOTES FOR LB-3560:
bittorrent download 02/06; different recording than previous versions based on different crowd applause and background talking at begin of d1t2; has low levels; similar to version "a" and is similar quality but not as warm sound; background talking d1t2; excellent sound [A]
(a bittorrent from 12/14 has matching md5 fingerprints; included in lk 95 set and described the same with same filenames)
square wav static d1t1 0:16 to 0:19, 1:08, drop 1:09

LB NOTES FOR LB-2613/LB-2613 xref-01508:
version "b"; excellent sound [A]; same recording as previous versions; this one is less warm and more harsh but clearer and more high end as if sound processed; some may like it better; it does not have flaws as on previous (a bittorrent from 12/14 is a close eac match on d1t1 with same digital flaws; included in lk 95 set and described with a generic info file with filenames like "Disk 1Track01.flac"; xref-01508)
